Hüseyin Çetin, President of the Turkish Shoe Manufacturers Association (TASD), stated that companies marketing Italian shoes to China want to work with them because the rise in exchange rates has increased Italian shoe prices. He said, "From now on, we will start exporting shoes to China, not importing them."
Çetin made evaluations following the "8th International EKOTEKS Textile Symposium" titled "Customer Awareness and Preventive Measures in Production" organized by the Textile and Ecological Testing Research and Development Center (EKOTEKS).
Çetin stated that they organized a trade delegation to China last week, and during the meetings they held there, he explained that Türkiye ranks 7th in the world and 1st in Europe in terms of production power, and that they produce high value-added products.
Protocol was made
Çetin explained that Italian shoes have become more expensive due to the increase in exchange rates and that the companies marketing them now want to market Turkish goods, and announced that they have made a protocol within this framework.
Çetin stated that the marketing company will visit Istanbul in July as part of the protocol, adding, "The company will also analyze which products we manufacture can be sold in the Chinese market as part of our entry into the market. From now on, we will begin exporting to China, not importing shoes from China. We anticipate that our exports, especially of leather shoes, will increase even further in the coming period."
